Abuse and its Effects
What is abuse?
Sexual abuse occurs when one person dominates and exploits a child or adolescent by means of sexual activity or suggestion.
Physical abuse is injury caused by acts or omissions of a parent or person responsible for a child, which cause pain and are a threat to the child’s safety.
Neglect is the chronic absence of a parent or person responsible for child without providing for a substitute caretaker, and/or failure to provide physical or emotional necessities of life for a child.
Emotional Abuse is a psychological condition, which renders the child chronically and severely anxious, agitated, depressed, socially withdrawn, psychotic or in fear of his life.
